Roofing Services

Roof Types

Whether you own an office building, an apartment complex, or some other commercial property in the New York City area, you’re going to need to keep its roof in quality condition. And to do that, simply call Commercial Roofing Contractors New York based at Neptune commercial roofers NYC for our unbeatable commercial roofing construction services.

When you’re having a roof replaced or installing a roof on a new construction in New York, there are several different options you have for the roofing material that you choose from. Before deciding which roofing material is best for you, there are a few things you’ll need to consider.

The first thing to take into account is the “pitch” of your roof. The pitch is simply the angle at which your roof slopes: a higher pitch is a steeper angle, and a lower pitch is a flatter roof. Roofs with higher pitches don’t need nearly as much help with shedding water, as they can do it mostly on their own, but a flatter roof will need help from the roofing material to adequately shed water.

You’ll also want to consider how long you need the material to last and how much maintenance you’ll be able to provide it with. Then, think of the architecture and design of your New York home and how well different materials will complement the style.

Flat roofing solutions are designed for low slope roofs, often called flat roofs. A roof with a pitch of less than 10° is considered flat. There are many advantages to flat roofs; they can offer extra usable space on the top of a building or additional areas for installation of HVAC and various plant and solar panels. Flat roofs are now used as an extension of living and leisure space and serve as a base for roof gardens, walkways, and even running tracks.

The selection of the most suitable roofing solution for flat roof systems will be guided by the design and performance criteria and the geographical location. Neptune offer a range of flat roofing solution to suit most applications:

Bituminous membrane system

We offer a range of bituminous membrane systems, from self-adhesive and torch-on systems to our high performance hybrid system that combines our proved and tested roofing products. The robust membrane has excellent mechanical strength, dimensional stability, and fire performance qualities. Our bituminous felts are BBA certified (91/2671) to the durability of at least 25 years.

EPDM roofing

Our range of EPDM roofing solutions is effective for both warm and cold roof installations. The highly durable membranes are UV resistant, lightweight, and flexible. They are rapid and relatively easy to install, making them ideal for large scale projects or roofs with a lot of detailing. Neptune EPDMs have fire resistant qualities.

Cold applied liquid roofing

The fully bonded Neptune cold applied liquid roofing is a safe and fast flat roofing option. It is ideally suited to refurbishments and repairs where it can offer a seamless finish. This type of roofing is frequently specified for new roofs with complicated details, complex upstands, a variety of penetrations and the need for rapid application.

Felt roofing

Felt roofing creates durable built up roofing systems using bituminous felts. Although nail fixing or cold adhesive can be used to install a felt roofing system, torch on is the established application method. These systems are economical to install, easy to repair or replace, and offer outstanding water resistant properties.

Single-ply roofing

Single-ply roofing uses membranes that are rapid and relatively easy to install over a variety of substrates. There is no need for gas torches or open flame, making the installation safe. The lightweight, flexible membranes are available in various colours and provide excellent design flexibility. Neptune single-ply roofing membranes have a BBA certified life expectancy of 40 years.

Hot melt roofing

Hot melt roofing systems have high tensile strength, creating a tough surface with outstanding resistance to impact damage. Low UV resistance means hot melts are often used for roofs where the surface is ballasted or paved. And, of course, for green roofs. Neptune hot melts can be delivered in hot charge tankers, ready to install

Mastic asphalt roofing

One of the oldest roofing materials, mastic asphalt helps create a monolithic finish with great waterproofing qualities. It is a versatile roofing product that can be applied over various substrates and over flat and curved or sloped areas of warm, cold or buried roofs. Neptune mastic asphalt comes in different grades to suit project requirements.

Neptune products are manufactured in the UK from responsibly, and where possible, locally sourced materials in order to reduce our carbon footprint and help with the sustainability of your project. The majority of our roofing systems are also BBA certified.

TPO Roofing

TPO stands for Thermoplastic Polyolefin, a single-ply roofing membrane that’s used in both commercial and residential roofing. It’s a member of the “rubber roofing” category of materials.

TPO is a relatively new roofing material that was introduced in the early 1990s. It’s energy efficient, lightweight, and easier to install than traditional flat roof systems. TPO is also a good option for flat roofs or low-slope dormers because it reflects heat instead of absorbing it.
Here are some other characteristics of TPO roofing:
Rigid: TPO is more rigid than TPU, another roofing material.
Durable: TPO is sturdy and durable.
Warranty: TPO manufacturers typically warranty their roofs for up to 30 years, with a realistic life expectancy of between 30 and 50 years.
Maintenance: Proper and timely maintenance can significantly increase the life of your roof.

Hot Roofs

Hot roofing systems are typically made of asphalt, tar, or bitumen-based products and applied hot.

Hot mop roofing
This system is considered the most effective way to cover flat or low-slope roofs. The result is a multi-layered, impermeable roof covering that can last up to 15 years. Hot mopped systems are usually less expensive to install than torch down, but they are slightly less UV ray and puncture resistant.

Asphalt roofing systems
This system involves melting bricks of hot asphalt in a large metal kettle and applying it in-between a base sheet, ply sheets, and a cap sheet. Ply sheets and additional layers of asphalt can be added until the desired thickness is reached

Cold Roofs

When the temperatures rise, cold roofs can help you keep your cooling costs lower. They’ll also prevent ice dams from forming, and they can help you keep your wood roofing in the best condition possible.

Our highly trained, knowledgeable, and experienced roofing technicians can guarantee your complete satisfaction with all of the work we provide. We know how important your roofing is your home, and how important your home is to you, so we are dedicated to providing each of our clients with the absolute best in quality workmanship and professional customer service. We’ll always get the job done as quickly as possible, but we never allow speed to get in the way of a quality job.

4 Ply (Built-Up Roofing)

4 ply roofing will give your roof a water-tight seal that provides years of protection with minimal maintenance and repairs.

2 Ply (Modified Bitumen)

4 ply roofing will give your roof a water-tight seal that provides years of protection with minimal maintenance and repairs.

Single-Ply (TPO/PVC/EPDM)

4 ply roofing will give your roof a water-tight seal that provides years of protection with minimal maintenance and repairs.

EPDM Roofing

Ethylene Propylene Diene Terpolymer (EPMD) roofing is an extremely durable rubber roofing membrane. It’s extremely resistant to hail, resistant to electricity, and it has flexibility during changing temperatures.

Steel Roofing

Steel roofing is commonly preferred because it’s easy to install, fire retardant, and requires minimal maintenance and cleaning.

Sheet Metal Roofing

Metal roofing is rapidly becoming more popular. It’s much more difficult to damage than other materials, and it can last a lifetime if its properly installed and maintained.
